The Space

Built in the early 1800’s, Courtyard Cottage was originally living quarters for the staff of The Vicarage. It is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the quiet, rural village of Oakridge Lynch. As it’s name suggests, it sits across the courtyard from The Old Vicarage, next to St Bartholomews’ church. While there are no views from the cottage itself, next to the cottage is an acre of gardens, facing south with views across the Golden Valley, overlooking our own land.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the cottage, courtyard and surrounding gardens. There is plenty of off-street parking on the drive of The Old Vicarage.

Interaction with Guests

Check in and out is non-contact, using the key box next to your front door. The code will be sent on confirmation of your booking. We live on site and are always available to help with any queries, so please don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything. We can can offer advice on the local area such as places to eat, walking routes and places of interest to visit. A good starting point for this is the welcome folder you will find in the cottage on arrival. We also respect guests privacy and ask that they do the same for us. As we also run a B&B, you may occasionally encounter other guests in the grounds and gardens.

The Neighbourhood

Oakridge Lynch has its roots in the silk weaving industry of the 19th Century.
It is now a thriving community with a popular local pub (The Butchers Arms), shop and primary school. There is also a beauty therapist based in the village.
-Flora and fauna abound and it is not unusual to see deer, pheasants, foxes and rabbits from the garden! We have several sites of special scientific interest within walking distance where rare orchids and butterflies can be spotted. At the bottom of the valley runs the old Severn and Thames canal, which provides lovely walks, as does the Wysis way which runs through the village. The Cotswolds way is also close by.
-There are many leisure activities on offer locally, including gliding and hot air balloon flights from nearby Aston Down, the multi award-winning Stroud Farmers' Market every Saturday morning and plenty of real country pubs serving excellent food and local ales in neighbouring villages.
-Within easy reach are many historic villages and towns including Cirencester, a pretty market town dating back to roman times. Cheltenham is 30 minutes by car, perfect for a day at the races or a spot of retail therapy!

Getting Around

A car is preferable as we are a little off the beaten track, although Stroud station is only 15 minutes away by taxi. Trains run regularly from London Paddington with a journey time of around 1 hour 20 minutes.
We have off-street parking and a secure lock-up for bikes.
The pretty villages of Bibury, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold are less than 45 minutes away. Bath, Bristol and Bristol International Airport are within an hour.

Other Things to Note
